Cassandra Hawkins
Cassandra is a Research Trainee in the Predictive Care Lab and a Master’s student in Socio-Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on homelessness and housing insecurity among BIPOC communities in Toronto, and she holds broader academic interests in Black studies, post-colonial theory, and history/memory work.
Cassandra is passionate about applied and activist anthropology that prioritizes real-world impact and fosters meaningful, community-driven change. She is particularly interested in how housing influences mental health, well-being, and access to opportunity. Drawing on extensive volunteer experience in homeless shelters and drop-in centres, she brings a grounded, advocacy-oriented approach to her work.
Outside of research, Cassandra enjoys engaging in physical activity, creating visual art, and cooking as meaningful outlets that foster clarity, self-regulation, and creativity.
